haruto-for-30u30Haruto Okabe, Japan Representative of the United States-Japan Foundation (USJF), has been named to Forbes JAPAN's 30 UNDER 30 list for 2026. The recognition was announced in the magazine's October issue, now available on Amazon and at bookstores and convenience stores across Japan.

Now in its ninth year in Japan, Forbes 30 UNDER 30 identifies 30 individuals under the age of 30 whose work is reshaping their respective fields, spanning business, sports, science, and entertainment. Selection is evaluated on criteria including international engagement, leadership potential, and a demonstrated willingness to challenge conventional industry practices. The initiative began in the United States in 2011 and has since expanded into regional editions across North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Okabe was recognized for his work advancing philanthropy in Japan, a country with one of the lowest rates of individual charitable giving in the world. At USJF, he leads the Foundation's operations in Japan, supporting the organizations and individuals addressing social challenges with approximately ¥300 million in grants to roughly 30 Japanese organizations annually.

"I am deeply honored to receive this recognition. I hope it can serve as an opportunity to raise greater awareness of philanthropy in Japan and shine a light not only on those working on the front lines of social change, but also on those who support their work,” Okabe said. “Through my work at the Foundation and beyond, I will continue striving to help more purpose-driven capital flow toward creating positive social impact."

A full article of Okabe is scheduled to appear on Forbes JAPAN's website on September 7.
