Miyuki Inoue
Miyuki Inoue (USJLP 2015, 2016) is a newspaper journalist and currently works within the president’s office, exploring the future direction of journalism and media amid a period of rapid transformation. She holds a master’s degree in International Relations from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). After working in the investment banking division of the MUFG Bank, she joined The Asahi Shimbun in 2003. She serves as Director for Media Strategic Planning in the President’s Office and is affiliated with the Content Programming Division of the Editorial Bureau. She is currently on maternity leave.
She has worked in Gifu, Toyohashi, and the Nagoya Social Affairs Department, as well as in the International News Department. Since 2013, she has been engaged in initiatives at the Asahi Media Lab and elsewhere focused on developing new forms of journalistic expression and business strategy in the digital age. In recent years, she has been examining the relationship between generative AI and media.
During a one-year company-sponsored study period in Seoul, she lived in a boarding house and ate sundubu jjigae for breakfast every day. During her year-long assignment in New York, she was nicknamed “Machikado Miyuki” (“Miyuki on the Street”) and walked extensively throughout Manhattan without relying on the subway.
