James Gannon
James Gannon is CEO of Peace Winds America. Prior to joining Peace Winds in 2023, Jim headed the Japan Center for International Exchange (JCIE/USA) for two decades, leading a wide range of initiatives to strengthen US-Japan relations and encourage deeper international cooperation on humanitarian assistance, global health, and democracy support. He also has served as interim executive director of US JET Program Alumni Association (2022–2023), conducted research with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (1999–2001) and taught English in rural Japanese middle schools as part of the JET Program. Jim is the co-editor of A Growing Force: Civil Society’s Role in Asian Regional Security (2013) and Looking for Leadership: The Dilemma of Political Leadership in Japan (2015).
