The United States-Japan Foundation is proud to announce the Class of 2025 Delegates to the US-Japan Leadership Program (USJLP), a dynamic, cross-sector network of established and rising American and Japanese leaders committed to strengthening mutual understanding, collaboration, and social impact between the two nations.
Since its launch in 2000, USJLP has brought together established and emerging changemakers ages 28 to 42 from across business, the arts, government, philanthropy, academia, and beyond. Through two immersive, weeklong conferences—one in the U.S. and one in Japan—Delegates form lasting bonds, engage in thoughtful dialogue on bilateral and global challenges, and participate in cultural and community-building activities. After completing both conferences, participants become Fellows, joining a lifelong network of nearly 550 alumni dedicated to continued dialogue, partnership, and shared impact.
This year, 22 incoming Delegates (10 Americans and 12 Japanese) will join 21 returning second-year Delegates (12 Americans and 9 Japanese) to form the Class of 2025, convening in Kyoto from July 27 to August 3, 2025. Selected through a highly competitive process, this year’s Delegates include artists, legislators, scientists, nonprofit founders, entrepreneurs, and public servants tackling some of today’s most pressing issues—from climate innovation and inclusive technology to national security, education reform, and refugee advocacy. The Class of 2025 reflects the program’s commitment to excellence, diversity, and bold leadership, bringing together a remarkable range of perspectives to help shape a more connected and resilient future for the U.S. and Japan.
