Deisy graduated with a B.A. in International Development Studies from UCLA in 2019 and was selected for the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program. She served as an assistant language teacher in Akita, Japan, for two years, where she facilitated cross-cultural and language exchange in the classroom and supported the local tourism agency through translation work.

Upon returning to her home in Orange County, California, she joined the nonprofit sector as the Teen Coordinator for the Boys and Girls Club of Central Orange Coast. There, she successfully led the relaunch of the Teen Center, implementing innovative programming and community outreach efforts to engage students and families.

Deisy later accepted a position with The Yomiuri Shimbun, where she served as the assistant reporter for the Los Angeles Bureau Chief. In this capacity, she contributed to international news coverage with a focus on immigration, politics, and breaking news across the United States and Mexico.

Drawing from her diverse experience in education, nonprofit program management, and journalism, Deisy is passionate about fostering cross-cultural dialogue, creating impactful programs, and empowering future leaders to deepen U.S.-Japan ties.

In her free time, Deisy enjoys exploring new hiking trails, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, and finding travel opportunities.
