The United States-Japan Foundation has announced updates to its remaining 2026 grants cycle timetable, adjusting the submission deadlines for the third and fourth quarter Letters of Inquiry (LOI).

Under the revised schedule, the deadline for third quarter LOI submissions is Friday, August 21, 2026, at 11:59 PM Eastern Daylight Time / Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 12:59 PM Japan Standard Time. The fourth quarter LOI deadline has also been moved forward to Friday, December 4, 2026, at 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time / Saturday, December 5, 2026, at 1:59 PM JST.

The deadline for the current second quarter cycle remains unchanged. Applicants submitting an LOI for the second quarter must do so by Friday, June 26, 2026, at 11:59 PM EDT / Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 12:59 PM JST.

The United States-Japan Foundation operates its grants program on a quarterly cycle to fund projects addressing shared challenges in both nations, and continues to consider time-sensitive proposals on an expedited basis for projects requiring an urgent decision, provided a detailed rationale and desired deadline are submitted. Detailed application guidelines and the updated schedule are available on the foundation’s website, and inquiries can be directed to programs@us-jf.org.
