Mr. Daniel Tani
Daniel Tani is currently serving as Vice President in the Advanced Programs Group at Orbital Sciences Corporation, located in Dulles Virginia. Prior to joining Orbital, Mr. Tani was an Astronaut with the National Aeronautic and Space Administration (NASA) stationed at the Johnson Space Center in Houston Texas. During his tenure at NASA, he flew on two space missions – first as a Mission Specialist on STS-108 in 2001, and second as a Flight Engineer aboard the International Space Station (ISS) in 2007-2008. Mr. Tani has spent an accumulated 132 days in space and has performed six spacewalks.
Mr. Tani attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he received a B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He is a 3rd generation Japanese-American and the son of parents that were interned at the Topaz Relocation Center as part of the mandatory evacuation of Japanese decedents during World War II. He was raised in Lombard, IL, a suburb of Chicago. An avid golfer, he currently lives in Northern Virginia with his wife and three children.
